My Twitter Philosophy

Thanks for following, however...

1. I follow only those people whose tweets look interesting to me. I will not automatically follow you if you follow me. You may be a super person, but if you are tweeting about topics that don't interest me, I may not follow you.
2. If you do not contribute to the conversation, but only retweet others, I probably won't follow you or later may unfollow you. I'm looking for communication with like-minded individuals and original ideas, humor, etc.
3. There are some people whose tweets I may not find to be all that interesting, but they have a blog or other web site that I do think is interesting. In those cases, I may not follow them on Twitter, but will subscribe to their blog's RSS feed. This is because the interesting things they say cannot be squeezed into 140 character packets. In fact, there are a bunch of folks whose blogs I subscribe to, but don't follow. I'm am happy when these folks follow me, because I've found a lot of really cool blogs & sites this way.
4. If you do not have a bio on Twitter, I may be skeptical of your bona fides and may not follow. If you are a real person, you should put something up, your interests, perhaps. If you look like a speculator I will probably block you from following me.
5. If you use a tiny URL for your web link on your Twitter page, I may be skeptical of your bona fides and may not follow. If you look like a speculator I will probably block you from following me.
6. If you never or rarely tweet, why would I want to follow you? I may even block you as you are not actually participating in the medium.
7. If I do get around to posting a #FollowFriday it may include only those with whom I have either regular conversations or those with extraordinary content. If I don't #FF you, it is not personal, I still appreciate you.
8. If "you" look like a "bot," I won't follow you and may report you as spam. Of course if you are a "bot," or use some sort of auto-search-follow software, you are not reading this anyway.
9. If you only tweet sports scores or news items, I'll likely unfollow you. An occasional score or news item is acceptable, especially if it is important to you.
10. I'm not on FaceBook or MySpace and will not click on links to those sites. Nothing wrong with you using either one or both, I just don't participate in those media.
11. If you are spamming I will certainly report you as spam.
12. No shirt, no shoes, no service. No porn, no potty-mouth, please. An occasional expletive may be tolerated... no, in fact is encouraged to make a specific point.
13. I reserve the right to change my mind without notice. I reserve the right to actually do something other than what I've said I'll do in the above statements. Life is not black & white.
